Happy Holidays from the Corbae Team! December 2019

December 19, 2019

Although my kids have been wishing fervently for snow the past couple of weeks, here in the Pacific Northwest, it’s only snowing in the mountains. Just the way I like it! I do have to admit that it is much easier to get into the holiday spirit when snow coats the ground and icicles decorate the trees. But, even without snow, I’m still finding ways to enjoy the holiday season.

Part of year-end for me is looking back at the year and recognizing the people and events that brought life and color to the year. This year, the solar coaster has been a non-stop ride! And I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has been on this journey working to nourish a circular, sustainable economy.

2019 hasn’t been without its trials. As I write this, news just came out that, unsurprisingly, the ITC will continue to step down as originally written, and tax credits for EVs, stand-alone energy storage, and offshore wind will no longer be included. Pair this missed opportunity for Congress to step forward with ongoing stories of climate change—like this morning’s story on the California wine industry—and it’s easy to get discouraged.

I’m not discouraged though. There is too much at stake. This is our home. It is beautiful, fierce, and ready for regrowth. We can help make it better with the choices we make every day. So, I am going to take the next two weeks, enjoy family time, get outdoors, and revel in the progress we made this year. Then, come January 6th, the work of the new decade begins!

Have a wonderful holiday season full of light, laughter, family, and friends! Cheers to 2020!
