Celebrating Light, December 2023

December 11, 2023

This time of year in the Pacific Northwest I pay attention to every moment of daylight I can. While it doesn’t rival my Finland friends’ posts of the sun barely making it to the horizon, darkness creeping in at 4pm helps me appreciate the light we do get all the more. The longer nights leave me wanting to do less. To curl up with a good book and a cup of tea. Of course, as a mom with two kids and a family that celebrates Christmas, doing less at this time of year is not always an option. But I do find myself taking a moment or two longer than I typically would when determining if I take on a task or event. I often find myself asking if this is necessary or is it inertia. Creative and marketing activities in our clean energy businesses can suffer the same inertia. We continue to put effort into tasks because we always have before. It’s easy to keep going. But, as things slow a bit at the end of the year and you look towards planning for 2024, consider taking a pause before adding that task into your marketing plan and asking yourself if it is necessary or inertia. Take the time to evaluate, to cut what is no longer performing, what is no longer serving your brand. This will open room for opportunities that will serve your brand moving into 2024. The Corbae offices will be closed from Thursday, December 14th, returning on Tuesday, January 2nd. I wish you a beautiful Solstice and look forward to celebrating the return of the light with you in the New Year.

In Clean Energy Branding Content, Forget the Unitaskers

Whether part of a large solar organization, a single-person marketing department in energy storage, or a sole proprietor, there is never enough time in the day or budget to create and distribute all of the content you and your team would like. If you have figured out how to produce it ALL, call me. I want to hear how.

Clean energy and its assorted technologies are incredible. Every day, there is something new to learn and discuss. Though most of the technologies have been around for a long time, the global application of them to decarbonize our energy supply is new. And that can take some explaining. Most clean energy brands embrace some form of educational content to do so.

There is no shortage of ideas to talk about with your audience. Time and budget, however, are limiting factors. How do you create the most value from every piece of content you create?

No unitaskers.
